Na Calaí CDP is funded under the National Community Development programme through the Department of Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs and was officially opened in October 2003. The Project works within Portumna and its environs and is committed to enabling, enhancing and promoting community life by empowering people to participate, be inclusive and work together in partnership.
The Strategic Aims of the Project are:

• To increase the range of supports and services for people that are experiencing poverty and/or social exclusion in our community.
• To develop a more vibrant and inclusive community with a strong community spirit.
• To decrease the levels of isolation that are experienced by the marginalised.

Our key areas of work are health, education, youth, disadvantaged and socially excluded groups, as well as the provision of supports and services to promote community and voluntary activity.
