Na Calaí CDP Goals, Objectives and Actions as outlined in the 2010 Local and Community Development Programme Plan

Goal 1: Promote awareness, knowledge and uptake of a wide range of statutory, voluntary and community services.

Goal 1 Objectives:

• Raise awareness and knowledge of services in the local community.
• Develop and sustain strategies and mechanisms for improved access to local services.
• Develop and sustain strategies and mechanisms to better coordinate local services.

Goal 1 Actions:

• To continue to support the development of the Portumna and District Health Forum including the Community Support for Older People programme and general health awareness programmes.
• To continue to support the development of the Portumna and District Mental Health Association.
• To continue to support the provision of outreach services from the CDP office and attract any further services as deemed required.
• To continue to highlight the work of the CDP, the services available through the CDP and services/groups available in the area, by utilising the Project Newsletter, the CDP website, and advertising in local media, etc.
• To provide a one stop shop with information on all statutory, voluntary and community services available in the area by drawing up a strategy to identify all locally available services for service providers as well as local people.

Goal 2: Increase access to formal and informal educational, recreational and cultural activities and resources.

Goal 2 Objectives:

• Work with providers to improve access to a wide range of opportunities.
• Increase awareness and support access to develop opportunities for learning and development.

Goal 2 Actions:

• To continue to support the development of the interagency Traveller Family Support Programme, including its Adult Education Programmes, Youth Programmes (including after schools), etc.
• To break down barriers to accessing educational, recreational and cultural activities and resources through working with providers to improve local access to life long learning opportunities.
• To advertise information on all locally available educational opportunities.

Goal 3: Increase in people’s work readiness and employment prospects

Goal 3 Objectives:

• Develop and sustain a range of services to support, prepare, and assist people to enter the labour market.
• Develop and sustain strategies with local enterprises to increase local employment prospects.
• Develop and sustain strategies to increase local self employment prospects.

Goal 3 Actions:

• To further develop the signposting service that offers individuals one to one advocacy and information in relation to services available to start up businesses or seek employment at a local level.
• Identify with local employers job opportunities and advertise same (develop a wall profile).
• Develop local forum to deal with local issues.

Goal 4: Promote engagement with policy, practice, and decision making processes on matters affecting local communities

Goal 4 Objectives:

• Promote dialogue between funders, providers and local communities
• Develop and sustain opportunities for communities of place and interest to identify issues and voice concerns

Goal 4 Actions:

• To participate on relevant policy platforms.
• To continue supporting a range of local community groups and volunteers on identifying issues, voicing concerns, project planning, funding, volunteer training, and resource issues.
• To continue to manage Na Calaí through the year through holding open AGM's, sub group development, identifying further local issues, etc.
